Buyer’s Guide

The gas grills that we have just looked at are some of the best high end, luxury options on the market.

But, these grills are expensive, so it is understandable that you will want to be sure before you buy.

With that in mind, we’ve put together this little buyer’s guide to help you know what to look for in a luxury gas grill.

BTU

When you are looking at different types of gas grills to purchase, you will notice the acronym “BTU” being used regularly.

BTU is a measurement used by grill manufacturers for gas usage and heat.

It can be very easy to be swayed by the BTU measurement, but it is worth knowing that this measurement is fairly outdated.

The BTU measurement is calculated using per hour measurements, and measures how much fuel the grill uses, rather than the temperature levels.

So, it is possible for this measurement to be swayed by the size of a grill, even if the grill itself doesn’t actually reach high temperatures.

Traditionally, a lot of people use the BTU measurement to help them decide what grill to buy.

Even if they are focused on temperature rather than gas usage.

So, as well as looking at the BTU measurement, we would also recommend looking at the maximum temperature output as this will give you a better idea of how hot your grill will get.

Grill Material

Something else that you also need to consider is the material that the grill is made of.

There are a number of different materials that might be used to create a grill including cast iron, cast aluminum, nickel-plated steel, and stainless steel.

All of these different materials have their drawbacks and advantages, but our go-to choices will always be stainless steel or aluminum.

Stainless steel will always be our first choice. Stainless steel is protected against corrosion and it is easy to clean.

Food doesn’t tend to stick to stainless steel, and it generally has an even temperature throughout the grill. The same applies to aluminum.

There are some people who will swear by cast iron grills, and there is no denying that these grills are great.

However, cast iron grills tend to damage easily, so if you are investing in an expensive, luxury grill, we would recommend going for a material that is a little more durable.

Number Of Burners

Finally, you need to consider the number of burners that the grill has.

Now-a-days, most grills tend to have at least 2 burners, but most luxury grills will have more than that.

Two burners is enough to heat your grill sufficiently, but if you want a larger cooking area, then you will want a grill with at least three burners.

This will provide a more consistent temperature to your grill, and it will allow you to cook food slowly if you wish.

So, if you are investing in a luxury gas grill, we would recommend opting for one with 3 or more burners.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are The Top Grills To Buy?

There are lots of different companies that produce gas grills, but only a few that produce high-end, luxury grills.

These companies are mainly the manufacturers that we have already spoken about in this guide.

So, if you want a top of the range grill, you should consider purchasing one from Alfresco, Lynx, Artisan, Fire Magic, Mont Alpi, or TEC.

All of these manufacturers produce grills that are made with high quality materials, and are built to last with additional features that standard grills do not have.

So, if you want a top of the range grill, check out one of these manufacturers.

How Long Should A Grill Last?

A standard gas grill will usually last the average American for around 3 years.

If you fail to look after your grill, then it could end up needing replacing much sooner.

In contrast, if you regularly do repairs to your grill, and also clean it regularly, then you could extend its lifespan. But most standard grills last around 3 years.

In contrast, a high-end grill could last you for up to 15 years if you look after it well.

Luxury grills are designed to last for much longer, but they will only do this if you clean them regularly, and maintain them.

So, the only way to make your grill last is to look after it.

Should Grills Be Covered?

A lot of grills do not come with a grill cover included. This is mainly because you do not need to cover your grill.

Your grill will not break if you leave it uncovered. However, in the long run it is best to keep your grill covered.

While your grill will not break immediately when it is left uncovered, over long periods of time your grill could become damaged.

Everyday wear and tear could significantly reduce the life expectancy of your grill.

So it is best to keep it covered when you aren’t using it if you want your grill to function for a long time.

Should You Clean Your Grill After Every Use?

In order to ensure that your grill lasts, it is important that you clean it regularly.

Regular maintenance is the only way to ensure that your grill will last for the number of years that it is supposed to.

A huge part of this maintenance is cleaning your grill, and we would recommend that you do this every time that you use it.

Once you have finished cooking on your grill, simply give it a wipe down. If you do this while the grill is still warm, then it will be even easier to clean.

As well as wiping your grill down every time that you use it, you should occasionally give it a deeper clean.

But, most of the time, a simple wipe down will be good enough to remove any food particles, and keep your grill healthy.

How Can I Make My Gas Grill Last Longer?

As we have said, one of the best ways to prolong the lifespan of your grill is to keep it covered.

Most grills won’t come with a cover, but a cover really can make a huge difference to the lifespan of your grill.

As will regular cleaning to prevent the build up of food particles.

In addition to this, you can extend the life of your gas grill by ensuring that you make any necessary repairs promptly.

High-end gas grills are built to last for long periods, but taking these extra steps on top will ensure that your luxury gas grill will last for years to come.
