RCS Cutlass Pro 30 Review

RCS Cutlass Pro 30 Review

The RCS Cutlass Pro is a relatively new model from the Renaissance Cooking Systems (aka RCS) that has been around for quite some time now, and it’s one of their most popular models.

The Cutlass Pro was introduced in 2014 as a replacement to the previous generation of the RCS Cutlass line, which had been available since 2008. It’s still an incredibly versatile grill, but with some changes made to make it more competitive in its class.

This year, we have seen a lot of improvements in terms of technology and design, so let's take a look at what makes this grill different from other grills out there.

What Is The RCS Cutlass Pro 30?

A great grill that cooks evenly and consistently - which is ultimately what it's all about. Stainless steel construction makes this grill last forever. This grill is made for people who want to enjoy outdoor cooking - whether you're a professional chef or weekend cooks.

It has cast stainless steel burners and rods, a rear ceramic infrared burner that heats an included rotisserie, and a slide out drip pan that makes clean up a breeze.

Further, the burner knobs are lit with LED lights and there are a couple of interior halogen lights that will light up your grill for night time cooks.

The other hallmark feature of the RCS Cutlass Pro series is the sheer amount of cooking surface area.

At 30" wide and 20" deep, the main cooking grate is much deeper than most other 30-inch grill options on the market.  This adds up to a generous 600 square inches of cooking surface area on a grill that only requires 33 inches of width on the cutout.

The grill also comes with all of the bells and whistles you love to see on a flagship outdoor kitchen appliance.  LED lit knobs and interior halogen lights will illuminate your nighttime cooks.

A high-end infrared burner and included rotisserie kit open up quite a few possibilities - everything from whole chickens to a rib roast can be prepared perfectly on the rotisserie.

The RCS Cutlass series gas grills are available in both natural gas or propane fueled options.  The ignition system is electronic, so you can be up and running with the push of a button.

Who Is RCS?

RCS is a family-owned business that launched in the early part of this decade out of Texas. Their grill line includes grills, outdoor kitchen built-ins, and other related products.

Are There Alternatives To The RCS Cutlass Pro 30?

Yes! In fact, RCS has multiple models in different sizes to accommodate any homeowner's grilling needs and desires! So, let's get into them!

RCS Cutlass Pro 42

If you're looking for a different sized grill, the Cutlass Pro 42 is a great choice that features much more cooking surface area.

Features wise, all of the things we love about the 30-inch version is present here.  The main difference comes in the cooking surface area and burner count.

This grill has four main burners that each put out 15,000 BTUs of heat, for a total of 60,000 BTUs.

The cooking grate is 42 inches wide and 20 inches deep, for a total of 840 square inches of cooking surface area.

RCS Premier 32 Gas Grill

The RSC Premier series is more affordable than their Cutlass Pro series.  All of the core features are still there, but the Premier series lacks some of the bells and whistles that come with the Cutlass.

Notably, the base Premier units do not come with a lighting system inside the grill nor LED lights on the burner knobs. Also, the rotisserie kit does not come standard, but is available for extra purchase.

The tubular burners are also slightly less powerful at 12,000 BTUs each, and the cooking surface area is slightly smaller than the Cutlass 30 at only 544 square inches of space.

Final Thoughts

When choosing a grill, there are many factors to consider. You need to think about what type of cooking you will do on your grill and whether you plan on using it often.

Also, think about whether or not the premium features are worth it to you.
