There’s nothing quite like relaxing in the yard on a warm summer’s evening with a glass of cold beer, favorite tunes playing, and some delicious meat cooking away on the grill.
A rotisserie helps to cook your meat to perfection by slowly rotating it while it cooks over the heat, resulting in meat that has moist, juicy texture and a delicious taste.
There’s a reason that medieval kings and lords used the same technique!
So, if you really want to supercharge your cookouts, you’ll want to get yourself a grill with a rotisserie.
Shop Grills with Rotisserie Included →However, that can be an intimidating process, as there are plenty of great products on the market.
Luckily, we’re about to run through some of the best grills that come standard with a rotisserie out there today.
All of the grills listed here are fantastic products, but with the Lynx 36-inch, we might just have discovered the pinnacle of grilling performance.
Honestly, we don’t know where to start with this grill, but we’ll start with its construction.
This grill is made by true craftspeople, with each grill precision welded together by hand by skilled specialists in their workshop.
The welds are invisible, and the hand-polished finish gives the grill such a sparkle you can practically use it as a mirror.
In terms of grilling technology, this grill is a step up from the other grills featured here. The grill features two different types of burner.
First, there is the Lynx ceramic burner, whose ceramic is extraordinarily durable and indeed used in commercial ovens because of the high temperatures it can endure.
The second burner is where this Lynx grill really shines, though.
This second burner is a Lynx Trident Infrared Burner, which can deliver up to 23,000 BTUs of direct heat to the grate beneath your food.
The system incorporates a world-leading 300-1000 degree temperature control feature used by some of the best chefs in the world.
With this grill, then, you’ll quite literally be cooking like a pro.
The grill is so well constructed and designed that it’ll work pretty much anywhere on the face of the earth, even in some of the most inhospitable environments.
This is thanks to the grill’s exclusive wind deflecting fin and world-leading heat retention capabilities.
Last, but by no means least, we come to the grill’s 16,000 BTU Lynx Rotisserie system.
With a dedicated burner and a range of selectable speeds and positions, the Lynx Rotisserie is one of the most customizable out there to ensure your rotisserie meat is cooked just the way you like it.
If you choose to add the optional Lynx Rotisserie Basket, you will also be able to carefully cook smaller dishes and sides while preparing a main.
The first product on our list is the Alfresco ALXE 36-Inch Built-In Gas Grill, which is best described as a masterpiece of culinary engineering rather than a mere grill.
This is a veritable grilling machine that endows even the most modest cooks with the ability to create extraordinary meals.
For a start, it has an impressive 660 square inches of actual grilling area - which is large for a 36-inch wide grill.
As we said, this grill has been constructed with almost scientific precision. In fact, the company studied ergonomics when designing the grill.
For the layperson, that just means that the grill was designed with efficiency in mind.
For example, the grill knobs were designed for precise maneuvers to ensure maximally versatile cooking controls.
Even when you’re not personally overseeing the cooking, the grill plays its part in ensuring the perfect cookout.
It has refractive ceramic 5-way heat distributing briquettes that eliminate hot and cold spots on the grill, meaning the grill cooks 100% to perfection across the entirety of its surface.
Say goodbye to having to ‘juggle’ food to get it all to cook evenly!
Another bonus with the Alfresco ALXE is that it is designed and made in the USA with only the highest quality materials available.
You might pay a little more, but you get guaranteed quality- for example, each grill is made from all commercial-grade 304, 18-8 stainless steel- and you get to support American manufacturing and American families with your purchase.
That is, as far as we’re concerned, a win-win!
There are plenty more cool features, including an integrated Signature Taste™ smoker system for when you’re craving that smoky flavor.
However, the real star attraction is the integrated Mega-Drive™ rotisserie system.
Using its high-tech, super hot infrared burner, this rotisserie will slowly cook any meat to absolute perfection.
Don’t worry about the rotisserie getting in the way, either. Flush mounted, it fits entirely within the grill without interfering with your grilling space.
Mont Alpi BBQ Islands are another of those grills that are so well designed even the most inexperienced grillers can make meals that wouldn’t look out of place at a high-end restaurant.
It’s a great looking kit, but the main attraction is the grill’s 6, heavy-duty 304 stainless steel burners.
Though you’ll be doing most of the cooking on these burners, the grill also comes equipped with a ceramic infrared back burner to fall back on when you’re cooking larger roasts, or when using the incorporated heavy-duty rotisserie.
Note, the rotisserie kit is included free on all Mont Alpi Deluxe islands and all Mont Alpi Black Stainless Steel Islands.
In total, this means the grill has 87,000 BTUs of cooking power.
One further cooking feature unique to the Mont Alpi 805 is the skillful inclusion of the brand new ‘Heat Wave’ Double Layer Sear plates.
This technology guarantees the perfect seared foot by reducing grease flare-ups, but also by retaining heat and encouraging the creation of smoke that will lend your meat all the right smoky flavors.
Another feature we particularly like is the incorporation of halogen lights in the cooking area and LED’s on the control knobs.
It might not seem like much, but it's a super helpful feature for those evening cookouts when the light starts to fail you.
But arguably the best thing about the Mont Alpi 805 is that it will be delivered to your door fully assembled.
That’s right, no trouble trying to put the grill together for hours!
You can quite literally be grilling within minutes of receiving your Mont Alpi 805– all you have to do is install the grill head into a cabinet!
Sure, some people like to assemble the grill themselves so that they can get a feel for the quality of the grill’s construction.
You needn't have any concerns on that score, though.
The grill is made entirely from Marine Grade 304 stainless steel, so it should have no trouble standing up to whatever the elements can throw at it, and is generally of the highest quality construction.
This offering from Artisan packs a punch, squeezing in 75,000 BTUs of cooking power across three heavy-duty stainless burners and a rotisserie.
It has 546 square inches of total grilling space.
The good news is that as a result, this grill is significantly less damaging to your wallet than 36-inch ALXE (Artisan is the sister company of Alfresco)!
Whether using the main burners or the 1500-degree rear ceramic rotisserie burner, the cooking is of the highest quality, with extremely high heat evenly distributed by the grill’s clever design.
The grill has a special pyramid shape with a flat top and heat-holding cavity on the underside that delivers intense, but more importantly even, heat to the cooking surface.
If you’re attracted to this grill but feel that this cooking power just isn’t enough for your needs, you can also add an optional infrared burner upgrade.
This infrared burner has a ceramic surface that cooks with an intense, absolutely even heat.
In fact, it will cook your meat some 50% faster than the base model and is almost guaranteed to be flare-up free.
One of the coolest features, we think, is the self-clean function.
All you need to do is turn the tray over, pull the lid closed, and fire up the burners to their highest setting in order for the grill to self-clean!
Not that you should have too many problems maintaining the grill’s cleanliness, though.
The cooking grates are made from stainless steel and coated with a special non-stick nonstick electro-polished finish which helps not only to keep them clean but also to maintain ultimate performance.
In fact, it’s not just the cooking grates that are stainless steel.
As with all Artisan grills, the whole construction is commercial-grade stainless steel and made in the USA with hand-welded seams and without mechanical fasteners.
If you’re looking for a grill a touch more modest, we rate the AOG L-Series Built-In Gas Grill pretty darn highly.
The unit features three 16,000 BTU u-shaped burners across a large cooking surface primarily made of Diamond Sear stainless steel cooking grids, and also comes with an additional warming rack.
Solid brass valves ensure precise temperature control and long-lasting durability, whilst stainless steel vaporizer panels guarantee even heat distribution and the cooking of your food to perfection.
The grill is attractively designed, with a rounded hood and contoured face that features a satin finish.
The whole grill is made in the United States from heavy-duty 304 series stainless steel, and should last many years with the proper care.
Like many of our grills, the AOG L-Series comes with interior halogen lights for easy night-time cook-outs, and also has several other features that improve the grill’s usability.
For example, the distinctively designed analog thermometer with polished bezel, which looks stylish and also helps you to monitor the temperature of your cooking.
And then there’s the unique electronic push button ignition system- which is easy to use and does not require batteries.
The only major disappointment with this grill is that the infrared back burner and associated rotisserie system are not included as standard, and therefore will cost several hundreds of dollars extra.
Another result of this is that the rotisserie system is not fully integrated into the grill, and requires the removal of the warming rack and cooking grids to function properly.
No one has quite the same set of needs and wants when it comes to buying a grill, but there are still plenty of factors that all buyers ought to consider before they make their purchase.
There are two main considerations when it comes to grill size. First, there is the actual cooking area of the grill.
In order to work out how big you’d like the cooking area of your grill to be, you’ll first need to think about how you intend to use your grill.
Will you be cooking for your family and small gatherings of friends, or will you want to host much larger groups?
If the former, you probably won’t need to worry too much about the cooking area at all, whereas if you’re looking to host big gatherings, the size of your cooking area- and as a result the amount of food you can cook at once- will be one of your biggest priorities.
You’ll have to also give consideration to the grill’s overall size.
You should measure out the area you’ve set aside for your grill on your patio, and only buy a grill that fits within these specifications.
You’ll have noticed that we’ve been referring to the burners in this piece quite often by their ‘BTU’.
That’s all very well and good, but what on earth is a BTU? Put simply, a BTU or British Thermal Unit is, as the name suggests, a unit of thermal measurement.
It’s the amount of energy needed to heat or cool one pound of water by one degree Fahrenheit at sea level.
We don’t need to get into the complicated stuff, it suffices to know that the higher a burner’s BTU rating the more powerful it is.
If you consider that a home gas stove puts out about 7,000 BTU per hour, all the products here are pretty well covered in the BTU department by comparison.
But, if you are after a more powerful grill that can cook more quickly and at higher temperatures, look for a grill with burners that have a higher BTU rating.
Of course, the price has to be one of a person’s most important considerations any time they buy a product, and buying a grill with a rotisserie is no exception.
Whilst it’s possible to buy a grill with a rotisserie for about $500, these lower-end grills don’t stand up when compared against their more expensive counterparts.
The grills featured here are more expensive, ranging from about $1800 to nearly $8000, but they’re all high-quality products that fit comfortably within the bracket of ‘the best’ grills with rotisseries available.
We’ve neglected to mention this much thus far, as all of our models can be used with either natural gas or propane.
It’s a matter of personal preference, and depends on the situation you find yourself grilling in.
If you’ll be doing your grilling at home, you can hook your grill up to your home’s natural gas line.
It’s cheaper and easier than lugging propane canisters around if you have an outdoor natural gas connection, but not everyone does, and even then, you’ll have to make sure it can reach your grill.
The alternative is to use propane canisters, which are a bit more expensive, and cumbersome, but of course totally portable.
You’ll just need to make sure you have a ready supply of propane whenever you want to grill!
Shop Grills with Rotisserie Included →A rotisserie is a pretty simple device.
Think of it as something like a medieval spit, except rather than being slowly spun by a servant or two, the spit is slowly rotated by an electric motor.
Most grills with a rotisserie attachment use indirect heat- for instance, an infrared back burner- to cook their food.
Many grills are compatible with simple rotisserie attachments, but not all.
It’s also worth considering that your grill, although compatible, may not be designed in such a way to make rotisserie cooking efficient and effective.
An attachment is, however, a good way to dip your toe into rotisserie cooking.
We certainly think they are.
They offer a whole different type of cooking to regular grilling, and are a great way to cook large chunks of meat slowly and easily.
The best thing about rotisserie is that you can cook with minimum input from yourself!
Simply sit back and let the spit slowly turn over the heat, slowly cooking your meat for moist, juicy, evenly cooked meat perfection!
As we said, the rotisserie is best used to cook large, thick slabs of meat.
You could try a whole chicken, turkey, or duck, or try out a cut from a larger animal like a pork shoulder or a beef joint.
Whatever you cook, you can be sure your meat won’t dry out due to the way rotisserie works.
You can use rotisserie to cook vegetables, too, but meat is where it really shines.
